Our beautiful city was settled by the New England Emigrant Aid Company as a free-state town in the 1850s. Its nickname is “The Little Apple” as a play on New York City’s “Big Apple”. - Damon Runyon’s Home – listed on the National Register of Historic Places, you can see the home of the “inventor of Broadway”
